I believe in heart, not ego.
“He who works with his hands is a laborer.
He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.
He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.” ― Saint Francis of Assisi
I believe in promoting things that help people for organizations that know why they exist.
"No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another." ― Charles Dickens
I believe in learning, listening, and giving things the time they deserve. I'm always up for being challenged or trying something new.
“When people are sure they know what they are doing, creativity plummets. This is because they think they have nothing more to learn." ― John Cleese
I believe in transparency. I always want to provide value, but I won't pretend to know something I don't or set anyone up for disappointment.
“Truth never damages a cause that is just.” ― Mahatma Gandhi
I believe in inertia. Staying in motion keeps projects from losing their value, and it keeps the creative process healthy. Progress and reward both need to be a reliable resource throughout.
“The inertia of the mind urges it to slide down the easy slope of imagination, rather than to climb the steep slope of introspection.” ― Marcel Proust
I believe in having fun. I try and cultivate a safe, enjoyable, and collaborative atmosphere wherever I work. I think these environments are where people are at their best — and they always yield the best results.
"Creativity is intelligence having fun." ― Albert Einstein
I grew up near Pensacola, Florida. After high school, I planned on graduating from college in 4 years (which didn't happen) and then moving to the big city (which also didn't happen). UNA seemed like a great place to help me with that, so I packed up and moved North. After living in Florence for a short time, I couldn't see myself living anywhere else. The Shoals is my true home and a place I consider a big part part of who I am. Through my work, I strive to bring the same creative, resourceful, thoughtful workmanship that has put it on the map for generations. Being a part of that is very special to me.
I take my work seriously, but not myself. I love to try new things and dabble in as much as I can along the way. On top of directing and making things – I love to paint, draw, play music, make pizza, read, play Nintendo, laugh at standup, camp, and be a dad to Edie and husband to Julie.
